Could you explain what a dbf file is. Does the file contain text?

Please do not double post. Now if you just want java code to do this you may not be able to find anyone willing to do it for you here, so I suggest you try to do it yourself and try to get help on doing it(In which case there will be plenty of people willing to help you out). Assuming you know the structure of a dbf file this will not be too hard to do actually.

For those who did not know about the structure I found this

So if FileReader and BufferedReader can grab it then all you are doing is playing around with file position to get the data you want.
